I love to write. But even more than that, I love to edit.

That’s weird, right? I know. But it’s true. I love taking a rough draft and crafting it into something beautiful. I love twisting and adding words to create a masterpiece. I love making a piece of writing flow.

I’m probably the only person who gets excited when her husband asks her if she can proofread the paper he’s writing for his grad class. But I do. And I take at least partial credit for his awesome grade, thankyouverymuch. 😉

So, being that I’m a total writing nerd and want to get my hands on all the proofreading and editing that I can, I’m excited to announce that I am now offering editing services!!

Editing Services @ kaysepratt.com

I will be oh-so-happy to take a look at any of the following projects:

  • eBooks
  • Book Proposals
  • Sample Chapters
  • Guest Posts
  • Post Series
  • Media Kits
  • …and anything else you can think of!

Background

I began college as an English and Journalism major, planning to write. I ended up getting my teaching degree, with a certificate in English, so I’m certified to teach all levels of English. I’m an experienced proofreader and editor, with a natural skill for the craft. Plus, I love it. And I’d love to work with you!

Why You Might Need An Editor

All great writers have great editors. There’s something to be said about putting your heart and soul into a project, and then turning it over to an unbiased eye for fine-tuning. That’s what I will do for you – fine-tune your project to make it the best of the best, highlighting your strengths and passions as a writer.

This is especially important when you are:

  • Working on an eBook that you are going to either sell or give away. Self published or traditionally published – published is published! Once you’re a published author, you want to make sure that your product reflects your very best work, since it will continue speaking to the kind of writer that you are. That baby’s got your name on it!
  • Working on a Book Proposal for a writing conference. You get one shot with those publishers and agents. Make sure your proposal (including sample chapters) is the one that stands out!
  • Trying to grow your blog through Guest Posting. I can’t tell you how many guest posts I’ve received that I have had to edit, or scrap. It’s vitally important that any guest post you submit to another blogger portrays your high standards and skilled writing. That way, you get an invitation back!
  • Developing a Series. A series is a prime candidate for your next eBook. Do the editing ahead of time and avoid the stress later! Not to mention, your series could be shared on Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, and a zillion other social media outlets. Put your best foot forward.
  • Creating a Media Kit. Creating a Media Kit is a great way to attract businesses, bloggers, and others to advertise on your blog. Additionally, you can use your Media Kit to develop partnerships for future blogging and advertising opportunities. Don’t offend a potential investor with a typo before you even get to speak with them in person!
  • Working on any other project that could use an unbiased eye! I’m here to help. I’d love to take a look at anything you’re working on!

Rates

Most proofreading and editing services run anywhere from $35-75 per hour. As I’m just beginning this extension of the blog, my current rates are as follows:

  • $20 per hour for a standard project
  • $40 per hour for a rush project

Typically, I can edit around 10 pages an hour. More if your eBook includes a lot of pictures, less if there are a lot of things that need to be changed. I will take on no more than 2 projects per week, and give your project my full attention and detailed care!

Interested?

If you’re interested in learning more, or if you would like to submit a project, please contact me at [email protected]. I will take standard projects on a first come, first served basis. I’m looking forward to the chance to work with you!

Giving this a spot on my feed because it matters. Giving this a spot on my feed because it matters. Love you all. 💛
These are the exact 4 steps I use to keep life ste These are the exact 4 steps I use to keep life steady - even in my busiest seasons:

1️⃣ Master the Schedule
2️⃣ Simplify the To-Do List
3️⃣ Create Time for Rest
4️⃣ Finish ALL the Unfinished Projects

These steps are simple, but in this order, they actually work! And they’ve completely changed the way I manage my home, my work, and my mental load.

I’m teaching all 4 steps (with a practical, do-able action plan) in the Finding Your Balance Workshop TOMORROW - and I'd love for you to join us!

For years, my “project list” was basically a p For years, my “project list” was basically a parking lot for good intentions. Half-painted furniture, half-organized closets, half-started ideas.

And honestly? They were eating up way more mental space than I realized.

The real reason why I never finished anything is that I was trying to finish everything.

At the same time. 😬

Now focus on just ONE project to see through to the end before moving on.

It’s simpler. It’s doable. And it’s actually fun, because one finished project snowballs into another, and keeps your motivation going!!

Ready to finish some of your own unfinished projects?
1️⃣ Brain dump every single project into one list
2️⃣ Pray + prioritize (urgent, soon, later)
3️⃣ Focus on ONE project at a time until it’s done

The best part? The list gets shorter. And our brains gets quieter.

This is Step 4 of our Anchored Life Framework - I’ll be teaching all 4 steps in detail during our Finding Your Balance Workshop on Aug. 26th.

Confessions of a recovering perfectionist: If I do Confessions of a recovering perfectionist: If I don’t plan my rest, it doesn’t happen.

For years, I thought rest would just… happen. But the truth is, it won’t.

Not in our hustle culture.

Not when productivity is worshipped and busyness gets a gold star.

God made us with limits on purpose. And He gave us the gift of rest!

So for me, making rest a reality means means making it practical:
🗓 I schedule it into my planner every month.
💛 I choose activities that actually refresh my mind, body, and heart.
🙏 I treat it as important as work.

Try it for yourself: Write down your own rest ideas, then schedule them weekly this month. I promise - it’ll change your pace and your peace!

Share this with a friend who needs some realistic ideas for rest, too!

P.S. This is Step 3 of our Anchored Life Framework - I’ll walk you through all 4 steps in the Finding Your Balance Workshop on Aug. 26th. Get the link to RSVP when you comment BALANCE below!
I used to keep my to-do list in about 12 different I used to keep my to-do list in about 12 different places - sticky notes, my phone, the corner of a notebook, my brain.

No wonder I felt behind all the time!

Now I run our home from ONE Master Checklist. Everything we need to do fits into ⬇️
* Daily Habits (the little things I want to remember each day)
* Weekly Habits (routines that keep life running)
* Monthly Projects (one-off tasks I don’t want to forget)

This simple shift has saved me HOURS and so much mental energy!

Want to try it for yourself?
🖊️ Write down all your tasks
🎨 Highlight them as Dailies, Weeklies, or Monthlies
☑️ Organize the tasks by category
📌 Post the list somewhere you’ll see it, and check things off as you do them!

I used to think saying “yes” to everything mad I used to think saying “yes” to everything made me a good friend, wife, and mom.

But really? All it really made me was…exhausted.

Now, when I'm trying to find some balance in our daily life, I start with our calendar - because if our schedule is out of control, everything else will be too.

Here’s what’s working for us as a family right now:

1️⃣ One master calendar // Shared with Jon, of course, so we’re always on the same page.
2️⃣ Color coding (IYKYK) // One color per person makes everything visual and clear.
3️⃣ Make it visual // I still put everything on a big paper calendar that hangs in our kitchen so I can see the whole month at once.
4️⃣ Protect the margin // Rest days, family nights, and church on Sunday are all non-negotiables.

These 4 steps help me keep the calendar in check, and the balance in our home a little more...well, balanced!

Want to hear more of what's working for me right now? I'll share a few more tips throughout the week, AND a ton more in next week's free workshop!!

➡️ In the Finding Your Balance Workshop on Aug. 26th, I’ll walk you through all 4 steps of our Anchored Life Framework, and how you can use it to get some of your own balance back. Comment BALANCE below and I'll send you the link to RSVP!
