31 Days of Praying for Your Family - KaysePratt.com

Are you new here? Well, welcome!! I’m so very glad you came! If you want to learn a little bit more about this place, pop on over and “meet” me, find out what we’re all about, & find some of our favorite posts!

Welcome to 31 Days of Praying For Your Family, friends!

Praying for my family is something that’s really been on my heart over the last few months. Even more, I’ve been growing more and more convicted about praying SCRIPTURE over my family. Praying specifically for my children, for my marriage, and for my role as a wife and mom.

So I’ve prepared a resource to help you pray for your family, each day of the month!

Each day, I’ll give you a passage of Scripture & a prayer to pray. I’ll have these all typed out for you, but I’ll ALSO have them available as printable cards. That way, you can save each card each day and print them out to use over and over again each month!

Nothing is more powerful, or more truthful than God’s Word. My prayer for all of us this month is that as we spend time in Scripture and lift up our families to the Lord, our own hearts would be changed as well, and made more like His.

Want to get all of the prayer cards as one downloadable file? Enter your info below, and I’ll send them straight to your email!

Stephanie here. For a long time, I was a s Stephanie here.

For a long time, I was a serial quitter.

The same goals found themselves on my planner pages, minimal progress made from the last time they had been there.

I would start off with the best of intentions, thinking THIS would be the year I achieved EVERY SINGLE GOAL.

Alas, it never was.

I found myself running on the start-and-quit hamster wheel again. My mileage on that thing could probably cross the U.S. Twice.

At one point, however, I stumbled upon an important truth that broke my quitting streak.

Are you ready? Here it is:

It’s okay to quit.

Bear with me here.

I know it seems counter-intuitive.

But think about it.

The more I realized that not *every single project* needed to be gold-star worthy, the easier those tasks became to tackle.

Secondly, giving myself the freedom to quit the projects that weren’t serving me in that season gave me more time to work on what REALLY mattered most.

See, my problem was twofold.

One, I was tackling too much at once and two, I expected every single one of those goals to be completed to perfection.

Progress over perfection. The phrase is overused because it’s true.

Some things dropped off my planner pages, incomplete. But that meant the things that were completed made a bigger impact.

I’ve heard it said that overwhelm is simply not I’ve heard it said that overwhelm is simply not knowing where to start, and I think that’s especially true for goal setting.

That’s where breaking down goals comes in!

🥇 First, we're going to look at the big picture by imagining our project goal as having 4-6 action steps with 2-3 support steps each.

🥈Next, we're going to pick those action steps. Each action step should:

-Have a clear starting and ending point

-Last no more than a day. (Honestly, I’d like it to take no longer than 2 hours, ideally.)

-Feel challenging, but in a good way - NOT overwhelming.

🥉Finally, we’ve got those support steps! The support steps are a way to break down those action steps even further. Each support step should:

-Have a clear starting and ending point

-Last no more than an hour. (My preference is 15 minutes, ideally. I want a support step to fit into the nooks and crannies of your day!)

-Feel simple - almost more than you think it should.

Now you not only know exactly what needs to happen to make your project goal a reality, but you know EXACTLY where to start!

For SO MUCH MORE info on this, including a video that breaks down the process step-by-step AND a process for breaking down your habit goals (because they are different!) check out our latest blog post! Link in bio!
Stephanie here. This is my yearly goals page in my Stephanie here. This is my yearly goals page in my shiny new planner.

Isn't she beautiful?

She's clean.

She's colorful.

She's also blank. 🤦‍♀️

But that's ok! Around here, January is a prep month, where we take the time to think about our goals- including how many we should set.

We set just two goals a quarter- one project goal and one habit goal. And we take our time figuring out what those goals should be!

I love the way Kayse puts it:

“Why just ONE project goal at a time? Well, friend, have you ever had a goal of starting the baby book for your second-born and…just never, ever got around to it?

Yeah, me too.”

Guilty as charged here, too!

When we give ourselves the gift of just ONE goal to focus on at a time, we can throw all our energy at it, and make way more progress than if we were trying to do way too many things at once!

As for habits - focusing on one every quarter is the BEST way to make sure we are establishing good, lasting habits, not just following trends.

Let's be honest- goal setting can be hard. Let's be honest- goal setting can be hard.

Whew! Glad I got that off my chest.

But really - can you guess how many years I have had some of the *same goals* sitting on my list? I'll give you a hint- it's a non-zero number.

Finally I realized that just writing it down was not going to get it done - I needed to change the way I approached goal-setting.

Now, instead of setting a handful of random goals, I’ve learned to divide my goals into two categories - Project Goals and Habit Goals.

Simplifying my goals into these two obvious categories has made a HUGE difference in clarifying my goals each year. I can now decide if I have space for a project goal or a habit goal, and figure out which one would support my life (and my family’s life) the best in this season!

Separating them this way also gives me a plan of attack - I have a ready-made way to approach each type of goal, which can help A TON when you feel overwhelmed or don't know where to start.
