From Scattered to Steadfast: Real Women Share How They Plan Their Weeks
When I first started talking about the S.O.S. Planner, I figured everyone would be most excited about the layouts. And yes – those 30+ layouts are amazing. But what people really want to know is this:
How are real women using it in their real lives?
So today I’m sharing a handful of stories pulled from our community – how they plan, what they tweak, and the little rhythms that help them feel less scattered and more steady.
(Names have been lightly scrambled to protect the planners. If your name sounds suspiciously like “Shmily,” it’s purely coincidental. 😉)
Emily, Working Mom of 3
Season: Spring = sports + carpools + work deadlines.
Core layout: Weekly most of the year → switches to Daily during sports season.
How she sets it up:
- Weekly spread holds the master picture: practices, games, carpool rotations, work meetings.
- Daily pages on game days for time-blocking: commute, warm-up window, quick email triage, and 20-minute “reset” at night.
- Detailed meal plan page tucked into the week so dinner doesn’t become a 5PM crisis.
Why it works: When evenings are unpredictable, the daily page catches the chaos and the weekly page keeps the big picture calm.
Steal this idea: Color the kids’ initials next to time blocks (A, B, C) instead of rewriting full names – faster, cleaner, and color-coded!
Linda, Recently Retired
Season: Slower pace, more intention.
Core layout: Weekly, with add-ins that make room for gratitude and service.
How she sets it up:
- Gratitude log every morning (3 lines, no pressure).
- Habit tracker with just 4 habits: morning walk, water, Bible reading, call a friend.
- Volunteer blocks penciled on the weekly page; if that week fills up, she’ll add a Daily page for her busiest day to avoid overcommitting.
Why it works: The flexibility keeps planning simple and meaningful – never overwhelming.
Steal this idea: Keep a “Ways to Bless” mini-list in the back of your planner (write a card, drop a meal, text encouragement). She picks one per week!
Sarah, Middle School Teacher
Season: School-year rhythms + grading bursts.
Core layout: Weekly for class schedule → Project pages for unit planning → Daily during intense grading weeks.
How she sets it up:
- Weekly spread holds periods, after-school activities, and home appointments. (Family Manager Layout is her fave for this!)
- Project pages list unit objectives, materials to prep, and checkpoints.
- Daily pages on grading weeks with theme blocks: 30 minutes per class, break, repeat.
Why it works: She can see school + home at once, then zoom into intense weeks without burning out.
Steal this idea: Keep a “10-minute tasks” list for surprise pockets of time (copy handouts, update seating chart, email parents).
Jasmine, Small Business Owner + Toddler Mom
Season: Client projects + nap-time sprints.
Core layout: Weekly overview regularly + Daily on launch weeks.
How she sets it up:
- Weekly layout: notates top 3 business priorities + top 3 home priorities.
- Nap-time block on Daily page labeled with ONE must-do task within that block (no more, no less).
- Meal plan notes (Mon–Fri) with 2 repeat dinners to keep decisions low.
Why it works: One must-do during nap time = consistent progress without decision fatigue.
Steal this idea: Pre-write a “rainy day list” of tiny tasks for when naps are short – schedule the follow-up, draft captions, batch invoices.
Hannah, College Student + Ministry Volunteer
Season: Classes, study groups, and ministry nights.
Core layout: Weekly for classes → Hybrid during exams (Weekly + a few Daily).
How she sets it up:
- Weekly page maps classes, labs, and ministry commitments.
- Exam weeks: adds Daily Hourly pages for 45-minute study blocks by subject.
- Rest notes: one small joy each day (a walk to the library, tea with a friend).
Why it works: She keeps a good overview of the semester while giving heavy weeks the space they need.
Steal this idea: Use a tiny checkbox next to each study block; seeing boxes fill up builds momentum! You know we all love a good checklist!
What I Love About These Stories
No two women plan the same way. And they don’t have to! Each one mixes layouts and add-ins to match the season she’s actually living – and that’s the point.
- Weekly for the big picture.
- Daily for the detailed days.
- Add-ins (meal plan, gratitude, projects, habit tracker) for what matters most right now.
- Faith & rest woven in on purpose – so your planning serves your life, not the other way around.

Kayse Pratt serves Christian women as a writer + designer, creating home + life management resources that help those women plan their days around what matters most. She’s created the most unique planner on the market, helped over 400 women create custom home management plans, and works with hundreds of women each month inside her membership, teaching them how to plan their days around what matters most. When she’s not designing printables or writing essays, you’ll find Kayse homeschooling her kids, reading a cheesy novel with a giant cup of tea in hand, or watching an old show from the 90’s with her husband, who is her very best friend.
