Your Weekly Reset | Vol. 1
Hey friends!
January is here! My kids are back in school today, which means I have a little quiet time after a few busy, busy weeks. And I’m grateful.
Don’t get me wrong, I really love having my kids home. But the last few months of the year felt so incredibly busy, I really didn’t have much room to slow down, take a deep breath, and think through the year ahead.
So that’s what I’m doing this week. Taking a little time to think through what I think we need in the year ahead, and pray through the options in front of me.
If you’re trying to spend a little time in thought this week (January IS our Prep Month, after all!), here are a few questions I’m asking myself that might come in handy for you, too:
- What worked well last year, and what didn’t? Specifically, what do I want to bring with me into the year ahead, and what do I need to leave behind?
- Where do I feel God convicting me lately? (Hello busy-ness, I’m talking to you!) How can I make some changes that honor Him?
- What routines can I implement that reflect the focus I need to have in the year ahead? (I’m starting with my morning routine!)
These are simple questions, but they really help me sort through all my feelings – especially when I’m as overwhelmed as I have been in the last few weeks. I hope they help you too!
Scripture for your week:
Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
– Psalm 16:5-8
I love the reminder in these verses that the Lord has ordained boundaries in my life for my own good. I can’t do everything – I was not made with that capacity. Instead, as I’m thinking through my focus and goals for the year, I’m doing my best to keep my eyes on the Lord, who counsels me and makes my lot secure. I can trust in Him, and so can you!

Right now, before I set any big goals or even fill in my planner, I’m using our Name Your Season Guide to pause and get clear on what this season actually requires. Instead of planning based on who I wish I was, or what January is “supposed” to look like, I’m letting my goals match the season I’m really in.
Here’s how I’m using it:
- Reflecting on what last season demanded from our family (a lot, if I’m honest)
- Choosing one main priority that fits our current reality (routines that bring rest)
- Brainstorming goals that support that priority (not compete with it)
If goal setting has ever felt overwhelming or misaligned, this is a gentle place to start. It’s a guide I come back to over and over again – and it’s completely free for you!
