Your Weekly Reset | Vol. 9
Hey friends,
So far this year, I’ve been really trying to figure out what peace looks like in my home, realistically.
Does it mean everything is clean all the time? Well, no – that’s not a possibility when there are 4 busy people living in this home.
Does it mean our systems work without fail? Again – not really possible, since we all know by now that systems need to change over time to meet the needs of our family.
Does it mean that I’m getting everything on my list done each day? Laughable, I know!
So what does peace in my home REALLY mean? This is what I’ve been digging into in my journaling time lately. And here’s what I think I’ve found…
Peace in my home looks like a peaceful mom, anchored in the Word of God, who holds loosely to the plans she’s made – knowing that God’s plan is better than hers was anyway.
Obviously this is much harder than it sounds, because it looks like loosening my grip on all the things I’m trying to control – the systems, the schedule, the stress – and focusing on just one thing instead: getting my heart right before the Lord so that I can be filled with HIS love, and serve my family well.
So practically, here’s what I think that’s looking like for me right now, one small step at a time:
- Starting my day in the Word, even when I feel too busy to start there – that usually means it’s exactly what I need.
- Surrendering my day to the Lord – literally, I’m praying over my schedule for the day as I write it into my planner, asking God to be Lord over my day, and help me see if things need to go another direction (like, ahem, when I get interrupted).
- Slowing down throughout the day so that I can pray as I go, and continue to remind myself that God is the One in charge, and He knows better than I do.
I think so much of my stress and struggle comes when I try to do everything myself – forcing and forging my way ahead instead of slowing down to ask for God’s direction. I’m forever the proverbial man on a road trip insisting that he knows the way instead of stopping to ask for help.
This year, I am trying to quit doing what comes so naturally to me – making my own way – and rest in God’s way instead. Peace in my own heart begets peace in my home. Every single time.
Scripture for your week:
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.
– Isaiah 26:3
I pray that we are all encouraged to keep our minds stayed on the Lord this week, trusting His promise that He will keep us in perfect peace! 💛

One super practical area that has the biggest impact on how peaceful our home feels is meal planning. When I don’t have a plan, everything feels harder – evenings, grocery shopping, even my patience.
Lately, I’ve been using our Meal Planning Cheat Sheets to simplify this part of home management without overthinking it.
Here’s how I’m using them:
- Meal planning based on what we already have in the fridge, freezer, and pantry (saves so much money, too!!)
- Creating simple theme days so I’m not starting from scratch every week
- Building seasonal meal idea lists I can reuse year after year
This has saved me so much time and mental energy, and it’s helped our home feel calmer overall. If meal planning has been a sticking point for you, this is a really practical place to start – and it’s completely free!

📚 What I’m Reading → I Just Wish I Had A Bigger Kitchen: And Other Lies I Think Will Make Me Happy This is our monthly Book Club pick, and I’m really enjoying the simple tips and stories she shares to help us build contentment in the life God’s given us.
🍽️ What I’m Using in the Kitchen → This Kitchen Sink Caddy This is honestly one of the best things I bought last year. I keep my dish soap, hand soap, and Scrub Mommy (something else I love using in my kitchen) on it, and everything stays dry without cluttering up my sink or leaving weird residue everywhere. LOVE!!!
✍🏼 Tools Helping Me Plan → My S.O.S. Planner open JUST to the day of the week Having just ONE DAY in front of my face at a time seriously helps me stay present in the actual day I’m in, instead of getting ahead of myself all the time. I’m using the Daily Detail Layout (per usual), and I just love it so much!
Hope your week is full of what matters most! 💛
