How To Make What Matters Happen – Favorite Resources
Hi friends!! Welcome to our week-long series on Making What Matters HAPPEN!!
If you missed the intro post, you can read that here!
I love a good motivational series, but here on the blog, I always want to make sure that we talk about practical ways to make things happen, too. Let’s not just talk about the things we want to do, let’s share the tools that help us actually do them!
So today, Lara and I are SO EXCITED to share with you our favorite resources for making things happen!! These are the tools that we use in our own lives to keep our priorities in check and get things done.
The BEST Resources For Making It Happen!
Powersheets
I can’t sing the praises of PowerSheets highly enough! I LOVE THEM!!! I’m still working through choosing my specific goals for this year, but the process of going through these worksheets has been invaluable. I honestly think everyone should have a set of PowerSheets to start their year! They come in a looseleaf set, which you can keep in one of the beautiful PowerSheet binders. All of the paper is really high quality, and super luxurious to write on (for all of my paper-loving planner friends!). And, of course, I’m using my favorite Papermate Flairs to fill them out!
Write the Word Journals
This is the newest addition to my morning quiet time, like we talked about a few days ago. I am really enjoying the practice of writing out Scripture each day, and reflecting on a specific passage! (This is a link to pre-order, which you’ll want to do, so you can get one as soon as they are restocked in February!)
Life Handbook
I’m using these Life Handbooks to write to my kiddos. It’s a beautiful book that guides a mom through everything she might want to pass on to her family. There are sections to write memories, advice, and more. I adore them. You could probably do something similar in a notebook, but this handbook is absolutely gorgeous and will easily become a family heirloom!
Love Well Print
Would you believe that this is set up in my family room right now? Of course you would! I love this print so much, and am so grateful to have it in my home as a reminder when I’m interacting with my children. Lara has a bunch of other beautiful prints in the shop, so check them out and see which one fits your family focus!
Simplified Planner from Emily Ley
This planner is so perfect for keeping everything simple. I love that it now comes in a daily and weekly version, though I’m partial to the daily! (I shared all of my Simplified Planner set-up & secrets here!) You can head over to The Ultimate Planner Review to see all my notes on this planner and a few others.
She Reads Truth
I love this app for starting the mornings in the Word! But you all know that already. 🙂
Journaling Bible
My all-time favorite Bible (which I use with my Frixion erasable pens)! I love it so much, I made sure to include it on my list of Top 10 Christmas Gifts for Moms!
A Word From Lara…
What are your top 3 favorite resources for making what matters happen in 2016?
I love Proverbs 31’s First5 app for putting my heart and head in the right place first thing in the morning, my Simplified Planner for keeping our days simple, and the Influence Network community for surrounding me with women who live on purpose.
A little about Lara…
Lara is the publisher and editor-in-chief of Southern Weddings magazine, where they encourage couples to plan a meaningful beginning to married life. Lara is also the founder of the Making Things Happen movement, a nationally-acclaimed workshop that has been sold out for the last seven years and has toured over 40 cities. She frequently speaks on goal-setting, faith, mission-centered business, and how to make what matters happen. Her first book, Make it Happen: Surrender Your Fear, Take the Leap, Live on Purpose, recently released nationwide through Thomas Nelson publishers. Lara loves to garden, explore local farms, and she wishes her neighborhood would let her have chickens. She lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, with her husband, Ari, and their bubbly daughter, Grace, and new little redhead, Joshua. They are also in the process of adopting!
I have had so much fun talking about all the important things with you this week!!! I hope this series has encouraged & inspired you to make WHAT MATTERS happen!!

What was your favorite part of this series? Which of the resources above are you the most excited about?
Kayse Pratt serves Christian women as a writer + designer, creating home + life management resources that help those women plan their days around what matters most. She’s created the most unique planner on the market, helped over 400 women create custom home management plans, and works with hundreds of women each month inside her membership, teaching them how to plan their days around what matters most. When she’s not designing printables or writing essays, you’ll find Kayse homeschooling her kids, reading a cheesy novel with a giant cup of tea in hand, or watching an old show from the 90’s with her husband, who is her very best friend.
I love all of the resources because they speak to making time for what’s important. I want to be more intentional with my time in 2016!
Loved the WHOLE series. It is what I need this season. I could really use the simplify planner and powersheets. Getting my hands on them. 🙂
Love the article about quiet times. Got the journaling Bible and pens you roc, mended. Saving them for the new year. Can’t wait.
I wish I had learned about power sheets before buying a planner. What a great idea! I’m determined to be more purposeful in 2016. Purposeful in my Bible study, my day, my eating & my exercise. I’m learning that I can’t always go with the flow & get things done. Thanks for sharing these ideas.
The scripture journals seem really interesting. I like the idea of writing down scripture. It may help my focus a bit!
Thanks for the whole series! I have some things to ponder. 🙂
I loved the thought of planning and yet having grace when plans are changed or erased due to things going on. I find a constant need of having goals for the day/week, but also realizing with two little ones (1 and 3) that sometimes those things just don’t happen. I loved the post about grace!!!
I am so thrilled with the process of going through the power sheets this November/December that I want to gift them to my best friend to help her make her life more intentional.
i forgot to mention…the handmade life booklets are a fantastic idea…i have been writing on postie notes and including them in our family photo album, yes, we print out photos so we can always be reminded of fun family times..but these little booklets would be perfect for a keepsake treasure!
they might make special little books to give on mum’s day or to an elderly friend when we go to visit…you have such great ideas!
love well…this has been my mental mantra for weeks now…to always be mindful to share love and smiles and happiness! i would still be slogging along overwhelmed if you hadn’t written about needing a break and just enjoying everyday life for what it is…life! love well….thank you! oh, the little gold ‘love well’ framed message is such a wonderful holiday reminder that can stay up all the way to valentine’s day! ..so pretty!
I have SO enjoyed this whole series!! And I LOVE how you have like the inside scoop on the BEST planner stuff! For every area of mom life!
Thank you, thank you for keeping it real! I am a working mom of 3 teens that is trying to start a new business – can you say “busy”? I have been thinking that without moving forward in my organization and goal setting I am not going to do well with business. I would LOVE to win a set of these Powersheets. I have spent quite a bit on my business for training, so I really need to curtail my NEED for all the “wants”. I am headed over to order my planner today – thinking Simplified. Thanks also for the ‘She Reads Truth’ plug – love that too!!! 🙂
The whole idea of taking time to think about, write out, and then plan my goals was inspiring. It’s like the first step to actually completing the goal–and as Mary Poppins said, “A job begun is half done.”
I was most encouraged by the importance placed on the need to give myself grace. I tend to be “all or nothing” and get incredibly frustrated when I don’t live up to my own expectations of how my day is supposed to look.
I thing the day designer binder is awesome but would love to start the new year with the power sheets to make it a great 2016!
I’ll be honest – it’s hard for me to pick out my favorite part… This talk of goals and what’s important is definitely my jam. I want to be sure I’m making the most of my time, but giving myself grace… It’s been so encouraging – thanks for all your work on this, Kayse! I have to say – I love SRT as well, and PowerSheets are a favorite of mine!
I really needed to hear about “Grace”. I too often when I fall berate myself and won’t let it go. I am my own worst enemy. It was good to be reminded that there is Grace. That we need to give to ourselves just as much as we give it to others.
I found the article about quiet times the most encouraging. I’ll have to look into those journals!
