Your Weekly Reset | Vol. 13
Hey friends,
I don’t know about you, but I grew up thinking that if you did the right things, you’d get what you wanted in life. Tit for tat, so to speak. Like God was up there with the checklist to end all checklists, peering down His nose while He monitored my every move.
Do the right thing, get a check. Mess up, deserve a consequence.
Simple as that.
But the grown-up me has learned that life doesn’t work that way. God doesn’t work that way. Sin has broken the world for all of us, and hard things happen to everyone.
Over the years, as I’ve disentangled those childish lies from the truth, I’ve had to re-learn what the truth ACTUALLY is. If the outcome of my life isn’t based on my own good works, what IS it based on?
This is where we head back to the source of all truth – God’s Word.
What did God actually say?
Did He ever promise that my life would be easy if I did all the right things? No. He actually guarantees us that we WILL face trouble in this world, especially if we follow Him.
The real promise?
His PEACE in the midst of trouble, knowing He has overcome the world. Because of Jesus, our troubles won’t last forever. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33
In Christ, we can have PEACE, no matter what our circumstances look like.
Why?
Because through Jesus, our sins are forgiven and our eternity in heaven is secure. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17
Because in Christ, we are never alone, never forsaken. “…be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Hebrews 13:5b-6
Because God has told us to bring our worries to Him, because He cares for us. And He promises to take our burdens and exchange them for a lighter load. “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-30
When life feels hard, when circumstances feel impossible to understand, when we’re truly in a one-step-forward-two-steps-back kind of season, we can come back to His Word over and over again, reminding ourselves of the promises we find true in Him.
As we walk toward Easter, burdens heavy and challenges aplenty, my prayer for each and every one of us is that we’d set our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.
The peace of His coming, the hope of His return – let these be reminders that you are not alone, not forsaken, not abandoned. Rather, you are deeply cared for by a God who loves you, died for you, rose again, and walks with you each day, inviting you to bring all those challenges to His feet, so that He can carry them instead.
And in return? He will give you rest.
Scripture for your week:
He who did not spare his own Son, Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
– 1 Peter 5:7

Spring is officially here (!!!), so this week, I’m using our Name Your Season Guide to pause and get clear on what this season actually requires. These worksheets really help me make plans for the new season ahead, and set goals accordingly.
Here’s how I’m using it:
- Reflecting on what last season demanded from our family
- Choosing one main priority that fits our current reality
- Brainstorming goals that support that priority (not compete with it)
If you need a reset for the season ahead, this is a gentle place to start. It’s a guide I come back to over and over again – and it’s completely free for you!
