If you’ve been here for more than half a second, you know I love connecting people with resources that I think they’ll love. And this page? This page is a massive way to do just that!!
Here you’ll find all of my favorite resources, for every area of life.
Enjoy, friends!!
Journaling Bible – This is my all-time favorite Bible. It’s got wide enough margins for serious note-taking, and the pages are thick enough that my pens don’t bleed through. LOVE.
She Reads Truth – SRT is my absolute favorite. I love that I can do it on my phone AND in my Bible. It’s completely Scripture based, and all devotions focus on who God is and what He’s done, instead of who we are and what we should be doing.
Hello Mornings – Hello Mornings is not just Bible study, it’s really focused on starting your mornings the right way – through time with God, planning your day, and getting some exercise in! (You can choose a facebook group or a twitter group!)
Good Mornings Girls – This one is led by Courtney Joseph, who is one rock solid girl. She’s doing a Blogging Through The Bible series right now and has written a fabulous book I love.
Love God Greatly – This is an offshoot of GMG, and has online groups you can join. They go through sessions and study something specific each session. These are also available in a ton of different languages, which is cool.
Proverbs 31 Online Studies – This is actually more of a book study than a Bible study. Just click on over to their blog each week for overviews, videos, homework, and memory verse suggestions.
Out of the Spin Cycle: Devotions to Lighten Your Mother Load – Jen Hatmaker makes me laugh like no other. She GETS it, and she’s not afraid to talk about it. I love her, and I love this book!!
Breathe: 31 Moments with God {for Moms} – a month-long devotional by my friend Jaimie Bowman that you won’t want to miss! She writes with a heart for moms, as a mom who understands right where you’re coming from!
Undivided Mom: Finding Christ in the Chaos of Motherhood – This book is my 14 day devotional for moms who are weary, and pulled in way too many directions. I wrote it because I needed it, and I still read it because I need the reminder that Jesus is there in that moment when the toddler has emptied the once-full toilet paper roll onto the floor, or when I’m the one who’s escaped into the bathroom for a tiny moment of peace.
A Moment of Christmas: daily Christmas devotions for time-strapped moms – This is a brand new Advent devotional from my sweet friend Anna. She has such a passion for encouraging moms, and has written these quick devotions to encourage your heart and restore joy during this Christmas season!
Women of Faith Daily Devotional – This has been one of my favorites for years, and it’s special to me because I read it to my mom every day when she was sick. I love these little devotions – and they aren’t just for moms.
For an in depth review of a ton of different planners, check out The Ultimate Planner Review. But here are my favorites right now – the ones I use on a daily basis.
The Simplified Planner – One page for every day, and so simple. This planner helps keep me on track and organized. LOVE IT. You can read more on how I use it here.
Eat Well Meal Planner – This meal planner is my all time fave. You can read more about it here. I use it every single day!
Papermate Flair – I love these in regular tip and fine point! They are my favorite for planning – I use them in my daily planner, my meal planner, and anything else I have an excuse to write on.
Frixion Erasable Pens – I use these in my Bible. They erase beautifully, and I love how they don’t bleed. Win-win!
Staedler Fine Point Pens – I’m starting to love these as a close second to my fine tip Flairs. These are pretty great pens!
Sharpie Fine Point – I always use these to write in cards. Somehow, my handwriting looks prettier in a Sharpie. No arguments here.
Velocity Ball Point Pens – My favorite everyday pens. I love them. I don’t know why, but they just feel good to write with. (By now you think I’m insane, I know.)
Ticonderoga Pencils – It’s the teacher in me, but these are just the only pencils worth anything. I use them for homeschooling stuff, and have a pack for Emily. They have them in chunky size for little hands, or regular size for us normal-handed people.
Washi Tape – Basically good for everything. And so fun!
Planner Stickers – You’re welcome.
Bringing Up Girls, by James Dobson – Oh, this book not only speaks to me as a mom but as a daughter! I love everything about this book, and all of the advice is Biblical and wise. YES, PLEASE.
Bringing Up Boys, by James Dobson – Same as above, but for boys. Seriously, these two books are priceless in our home.
The Strong-Willed Child, by James Dobson – If you have a strong-willed child, this one is for you. You’ll read the first chapter and go “where has this book been all my mommy-life?!”
Mission of Motherhood, by Sally Clarkson – This is maybe my favorite book on motherhood ever. EVER. It reminds me of the simplicity of just being mom, and also the vital importance of a mother. It’s Biblical, wise, and FULL of grace.
Confident Parenting, by Jim Burns – Jim Burns understands the culture and speaks truth anyways. I love the wisdom he shares in this book, especially for families who are trying to figure out how to raise their kids in a Christ-centered family.
Sacred Marriage, by Gary Thomas – A challenge to consider whether marriage was really intended to make us holy instead of happy. This is such a good read.
Sex Begins In The Kitchen, by Kevin Leman – Awesome, practical advice for the more intimate side of things.
9 Thoughts That Can Change Your Marriage, by Sheila Wray Gregoire – I love basically everything she writes, and this book is so very good, especially for those of us who are maybe a few years into a marriage that’s never been all that easy!
The O’Malley Series, by Dee Henderson – One of my all-time favorite series. I go back and read these again and again. Each book is about a sibling in the O’Malley family, and you’ll fall in love with all of them! These are suspenseful & awesome.
The Redemption Series, by Karen Kingsbury – Also about each sibling in a family, these books that focus on the Baxters are the kind of books you can’t put down. Also ones I read over and over again. These are more real-life issues & how we deal with them as Christians (infidelity, cancer, single-motherhood, etc.).
Pretense, by Lori Wick – I’m starting to think I have a problem with books about families… This book is about two sisters, and follows them from childhood to adulthood. I’ve read this multiple times since high school and it always makes me cry.
The Help, by Kathryn Stockett – This is just one of the best books I’ve ever read. I don’t care if you saw the movie, read the book. You’ll love it even more.
Peekaboo Touch & Feel Books, by DK Publishing – We’ve loved all of these books for both kids! They are colorful, interactive, and keep their attention. Win!
Board Books by Sandra Boynton – These are fun and funny for parents and kids. We are constantly reading these to Nathan right now!
Early Board Books by Dr. Seuss – We read these all the time too. They are classics and fun to read!
Little People Lift-The-Flap Books, by Fisher Price – These are also a favorite around here! For little fingers, the lift the flap books are the best, and they hold attention for hours! Okay, minutes.
Where is Elmo’s Blanket?, by Shana Corey – This book has been beloved by both kids. I wish I could say I loved it too, but give me a few years. I’ve read this one no less than a zillion times.
The Boxcar Children Series – Netflix confession: my kids got hooked on the Boxcar Children story through the animated movie on Netflix! It’s been an easy transition to the books, and it’s super fun to read these together! The kids love them.
The Little House On The Prairie Series – I’m thinking we’ll be ready for these by the end of the summer. I actually never read these as a little girl *gasp!*, but I think Emily will love them, and I’m excited to read them with her! We bought this set in particular for the beautiful illustrations!
The Encyclopedia Brown Series – This was Jon’s favorite series as a kid! We ordered the first 4 books as a set, and this is the series that Jon is excited to read with Em. 🙂
Winnie The Pooh – A classic! Everyone loves Winnie the Pooh, and my kids are no exception. We’ve got a nice version of this book with fun illustrations that will hold even the little guy’s attention.
Mrs. Piggle Wiggle – And this was MY favorite series of books growing up! I adore Mrs. Piggle Wiggle, and her calm wisdom among some crazy kids. This book is the first in the series, and the whole family is sure to love it!
The Adventures of Sophie Mouse – I’m super excited about this sweet little book series about a girl mouse and her adventures! The illustrations are adorable, and I know Emmy will be all over this one.
Max Lucado’s Children’s Books – Max Lucado books are treasures in our home. These are actually picture books with gorgeous illustrations and strong Christian themes. Each clearly point to Jesus & God’s Word!
The Rhyme Bible – This is currently our favorite Bible to read with the kids. It’s clear, understandable, and so much fun to read! It also includes a lot of Bible stories that many children’s Bible leave out. It’s pretty comprehensive, and theologically accurate.
The Jesus Storybook Bible – The JSB is a great one too. We use this in the mornings for our devotional time with the kids. I also have it as an audiobook, so the kids can listen to it too!
Elephant & Piggie Books – HILARIOUS, you guys!! If you haven’t read an Elephant & Piggie book before, you better just run to the library and get them all. You’ll be laughing harder than your kids, I promise. Mo Willems is a genius.
The Bear Books – We were introduced to these books when Chick-fil-A was giving them away with kid’s meals, and we fell in love! I ended up ordering the whole series online. Emmy adores them just as much as I do, and she just takes the stack of books and reads them on her bed. (And I just ordered a few books from this same author based on the Psalms!)
The Berenstain Bears Series – Same with these. Emmy will read BB books for hours! And they are classics – we’ve got the same ones for the kids that we read growing up. So fun!
Fancy Nancy Books – It’s no surprise that our girly-girl loves Fancy Nancy! She’s obsessed with these books and their characters. And I love the lessons learned in them, so it’s a win-win!
Splat The Cat Books – These books are just silly. We usually get these from the library since they have such a big collection there. We’ve usually got one Splat adventure in our library basket each week!
Veggie Tales – I have loved every Veggie Tales book we’ve gotten, from the character building books to the educational ones. These books are how Emmy learned her shapes and numbers, and she still loves reading them on her own!
Llama Llama Books – Honestly, I think Emmy just likes saying “Llama Llama”. But these books are cute too. We’ve got a few with the accompanying CD, and the kids will just sit and listen, or Emmy will read them to Nathan!
Girl With Blog, Anna Rendell – Anna is a mom in the trenches and she gets it. I love love love her transparency and heart for encouragement. You’ll love her too. She’s so real. Tell her I said hi!
Courtney DeFeo – Courtney has such an incredible vision for mothering with purpose and teaching her kids how to be generous and think of others. I am ALWAYS encouraged by her words, and her practical ideas are so easy to actually implement. Love her! (Her book is amazing too. It’s here.)
Becky Thompson – Becky has a gift for encouraging with beautiful words. She speaks grace to mommas and seeks to build up other women. She’s a gift. (Book coming soon!)
Kayla Aimee – I loved Kayla’s book, and then found her blog. Her book is moving and raw, and her blog is hilariously funny. You’ll see what I mean. Get the book too, you’ll love it.
Inspired To Action, Kat Lee – Kat has moved away from the blog a bit and more into podcasts, but that’s okay by me because I love listening to each one. She’s practical, always has fun and wise guests on, and I learn something with every podcast. One of my favorites!
We like to choose toys that encourage imaginative play. Here are a few of our favorites!
Waterfall Mountain Train Table – We adore this table because it keeps Nathan so busy!! Couldn’t live without it right now, especially while trying to homeschool Emmy!
Lincoln Logs – Build a house, build a town. We love these guys!
Reusable Sticker Pads from Melissa & Doug – Emily will play with these for HOURS, creating a scene, building a face, dressing up girls. We LOVE these stickers, and they can be used over and over again.
Paint With Water Books – Because let’s just be honest. No one wants to clean up actual paint.
Legos – Because LEGOS.
Kiwi Crate – We actually use Koala Crate, which is the same thing, just the 3-4 year old version. I LOVE this subscription because it’s always themed, it comes with everything you need, it involves critical thinking, and the clean up is quick and easy. For this non-crafty mom, this is the best thing I’ve done!!
Rock ‘N’ Play – Maybe the best thing we ever got as new parents. This is what our kids slept in for the first 3 months of life, and they were (and still are) awesome sleepers. Coincidence? Probably. But still, we swear by this.
Summer Infant Swaddle Me – Actually, I think it was the combination of the RNP and THESE wonderful miracles that helped our kids sleep. I swear by these too.
Carters Onesies – Look. I made the mistake of buying other, cheaper brands of clothing, but there’s nothing like Carters. They hold up great, wash super well, and last forever. Amen.
Tommee Tippee Bottles – Way better than those bottles that have a zillion pieces. Do yourself a favor and get these. Plus, they kind of look like the real thing, so your kid may take a bottle easier! (I have no idea if that’s true.)
Wubbanub Pacifier – This is a lifesaver, you guys. Since it’s attached to a tiny (adorable) stuffed animal, the pacifier doesn’t disappear into nowhere, PLUS your kid can grab it more easily, at an earlier age. And did I mention adorable? (There are like 16 animals to choose from.)
Plum Organics Squeezables – Maybe I made baby food for my first kid, but not for the second! Who has time for that? I loved these organic squeeze packs. Great quality that I could trust.
City Mini Single Stroller* – Here’s the thing about strollers. You start out with the cheaper travel system because it makes sense and you think that that stroller “will work”. And then you learn about strollers and realize you need another one. And then another. So you end up spending MORE than if you just got the expensive awesome one the first time. So get this stroller the first time. It’s worth it.
BOB Double Stroller* – And this is the best double stroller on the face of the planet. Also expensive. Check craigslist. But don’t get a cheap one, you guys. The wheel will fall off when you’re far away from home. Ask me how I know.
*If you’re a runner, you may want to go with the single BOB instead. And if you don’t care about 4-wheeling it anywhere, or just need a smaller double option, the City Mini double or City Select may be for you. But these are my two favorite brands. They are awesome. And I do know, cause I’ve owned all the rest. Thank goodness for consignment sales.
Erin Condren Life Planner – I use this as my blog planner, and love it. Blog post on this coming…sometime soonish…
Elite Blog Academy – This course has helped me grow this blog from a hobby into a passion. (And it’s helped me supplement our income so I can continue to stay home with our kids!) I cannot recommend this course highly enough. If you’re a blogger who wants to grow into a business, this is for you.
How To Blog For Profit Without Selling Your Soul, by Ruth Soukup – A great companion to the Elite Blog Academy, or great on it’s own, this book is full of ideas to help you grow your blog and begin to monetize.
Restored 316 Themes – I use the Darling Theme on this site, and love everything that Lauren puts out. You can trust her designs to be beautiful and super functional. Best themes I’ve ever worked with!
HostGator – This is who I use for hosting & they are always great with customer service!
