The One-Page-a-Day Habit That Transformed My Planning
Monday mornings used to look like this: tea in hand, planner open, and me trying to build the perfect system – color-coding, time-blocking, drawing tiny habit trackers like I was preparing for the SATs. 😅
By Wednesday? I was already behind on updating it.
Here’s what I finally learned: if my planning takes more energy than it gives, I won’t keep doing it.
The Shift: One Page a Day
One morning I asked myself, What if I just did the bare minimum?
So, I opened a single daily page and wrote down four things:
- Top 3 priorities
- The day’s schedule
- Our dinner plan
- One simple way to rest
And here’s the game-changer → by writing out my schedule first, I could see what the day could actually hold. Some days had room for three priorities… other days, just one. That small shift made my planning realistic instead of overwhelming.
And you know what? It worked. I actually used my planner every day. Because it took less than five minutes to set up, I could stick with it – no matter what the week threw at me!
Why One Page Works
- It’s quick. No barrier to starting – just open a notebook and start writing!
- It’s realistic. The schedule sets the boundaries for my priorities.
- It’s focused. I see what truly matters instead of chasing endless lists.
- It’s consistent. A tiny daily rhythm builds a lasting habit.
Even in the busiest seasons, one page is always doable. And one page at a time is better than a plan that never gets used!
