4 things I plan every Fall season…
I am currently sitting on the couch, wrapped up in my cozy new fall blanket, on the very first day I’ve actually felt COLD since maybe March.
Fall in Vegas comes late.
And since it actually, finally, FEELS like Fall outside, I’m starting all of my Fall planning inside! I thought I’d give you a peek into the 4 things I’m sure to plan every Fall Season. I hope it helps you with YOUR Fall Planning!
1 // Fall Meals
Fall brings with it a whole new feel for cooking. I’m ready to bust out my slow cooker, make some soup and grilled cheese, and cook the coziest food for my family! And that’s a bit of a change from our warm-weather meals.
So, I get out a notebook and brain dump all of my favorite Fall meals in one place. This year, I’m trying to focus on healthy meals (though I’m sure that grilled cheese will sneak in there somewhere!) full of nutrition for the whole family.
I organized my list by type of meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner, sweets), and then I divided the dinner meals by how they are cooked (slow cooker, oven/stove, Blackstone/grill). This helps me easily choose meals when I go to meal plan!
The best thing about this? I have a whole seasonal meal plan, completely done. Now when I meal plan each individual month, I can simply pull from this list!
2 // Fall + Winter Calendar
All of a sudden we are VERY close to Thanksgiving and Christmas! And the calendar is filling up fast. I use this time of year to map out every single commitment and event for the rest of the calendar year, making sure to carve out space for the things that are most important to us as a family.
I use our physical calendar (which hangs on our pantry door as part of our command center) to plan these things out, so that my whole family can see what our schedules look like.
Pro tip: Protect a few weekends throughout the holiday season for just being home with your family. You won’t regret it!
3 // Holiday Budget
Along with all those extra commitments come extra expenses. The holiday season is full of things the kids need money for, gifts to buy, food to make, and charities to support. All of those things are WONDERFUL! …but they can easily feel like a burden if we don’t plan them out ahead of time.
I like to budget for the following things during this time of year:
- Christmas gifts
- Birthday gifts (both my kids have birthdays right around the holidays)
- Food for parties/get-togethers we are hosting
- Food I need to bring to other people’s parties
- Places we’d like to donate to
When we take a little time to plan ahead in this area, we’re much less likely to overspend and be stuck with a crazy credit card bill after the last gift is opened!
4 // Holiday Gifts
This is my favorite kind of planning – gift-giving!!! I like to plan gifts out by person, or by family, depending on who it is. I make plans for which gifts I give to which people, if those gifts have been purchased or not, and how much money I have left.
(I use my gift tracking spreadsheet for this, and I have a whole video on it >> you can see exactly how I use it here!)
All 4 of these types of planning help me feel like I have a pretty good handle on the things that are coming up over the next few months! It’s MORE than worth it to take the time to get these things on paper.
