DIY Week Organizer (or The Project That Kept Me Up Till 2am)
So I still have many a box to unpack, but this is what I worked on tonight instead. It seemed like more fun, and I got to play with my Silhouette. 🙂
I’ve been wanting a visual organizer for our week, with more things than a typical calendar has space for. I’m tired of having 4 things on the fridge that tell me what’s going on – calendar, meal planner, to-do list, etc. But I hadn’t found anything I liked, so I made my own.
In theory, this is very simple. In reality, it’s time consuming and makes you want to pull your hair out. Until you’re done. And then it’s awesome.
I started with this:
Got out my new vinyl kit (so fun!) and worked a little magic on my Silhouette to create THIS:
It’s got sections for scheduling, meal planning, memory verses, and all my daily lists. So basically everything I need!
Ahh!!! Don’t you love it? I do. So much so that I stayed up till 2am finishing it. My body will hate me tomorrow but it was totally worth it. Cause look how pretty!!
I can just feel my life getting more organized. 😉
A couple of things…
- In retrospect, it would have been easier to simply draw the lines in sharpie instead of cut them all out of vinyl and have to lay them perfectly straight.
- Those lines are not perfectly straight. Which bothers me. But oh well, it’s done.
- I’m excited to start working on memorizing verses again. It’s been too long.
So that’s the latest and greatest in our new home. What do you use to organize your week? Would you make one of these for your own house?

EASY LINE SOLUTION (Non-Permanent): Art Tape 1/8″
I LOVE this board but didn’t want the hassle of the vinal or to use sharpie just in case I mess up or want to change things around on it. I decided to see what Washi Tape was and if it would be helpful. Well instead I stumbled upon this PERFECT black crepe art tape at Hobby Lobby in the paint (art) section by the painters tape. Straight, cheap, semi-permanent, and easy! Just thought I’d share in case anyone else has sharpie commitment issues like me 🙂
what size is the board?
I absolutely LOVE this!!! If this wasn’t so hard for you to make, I would try to talk you into selling it. I would very happily be your first customer!!
Lol! I literally wanted to pull my hair out afterwards. But it would be much easier with a sharpie. You could totally do that!
Hi Kayse,
Got everything and ready to start on this tomorrow – but question – i could figure this out myself..but i’m mathematically challenged, so i thought i’d ask. could you tell me how far apart the lines are?
thanx 🙂
This is not super helpful, but I think I just eyeballed everything and redid it until it worked. Then I cut the lines with a razor blade so they were even. The top row and meal plan are probably about 1.5 inches high, and the rest of the sections are between 5-8 inches. Play around with it and see what works best for you! It’s easy to move stuff around with the vinyl.
I’m at target at this very moment looking at the board… how did you stick it to the fridge sknce
Its not magnetic on the back?
I used command picture hanging strips. Love those things!!
Thank you!!!
Ooh I love this!!! I have a white board that gets overcrowded, a to do list pad, and a calendar all vying for attention and space in my kitchen/fridge area. I would totally buy something like this!
I use a binder with daily schedule pages that I print out once a month. I think I’ll someday have something posted on a wall so all the family can see, but for now, I really like the mobility of my binder. I can take it to a coffee shop and schedule things and meal plan without needing to transcribe while standing. I use the Grocery Pal app for shopping, so I can’t forget my list! Plus, it’s synched to my husband’s phone so he can sometimes do the shopping. I’m really looking forward to posting and delegating chores when my kids are older! 🙂
Not Grocery Pal (I don’t even know if that exists?!), but the Our Groceries app.
Sharpie probably would have been easier, true… but who wants to pass up a chance to play with their Silhouette?! 🙂 (Said the girl who was up till midnight making party signs and cupcake picks.)
OOOOOH I want to see!! I spent weeks on Emmy’s first birthday stuff. Second birthday? Target. 🙂
You have one of my all-time favorite verses up on your board. You go, girl!
That’s my verse for this year. I need the reminder always!
Love it Kayse! It’s making me stare at my blank whiteboard with different eyes. Not sure I’d make it til 2am though 😉 – I’d be the one up at 4am lol.
That’s usually me too, but this pregnancy has be up at weird hours!
