My Favorite Devotionals For Moms | The Mommy List, Week 2
This week, let’s talk devotionals! Above all else, Scripture should be the basis of any quiet time. But after that, there’s a lot to be said about a good devotional. They can help in relating Scripture to life, in giving us a laugh, and in remembering that Jesus is not far away at all. Here are a few of my favorites!
My Favorite Devotionals For Moms:
1. She Reads Truth – I can’t say enough good things about She Reads Truth. This is what I use for my Bible Study every day. Each morning, I use the She Reads Truth app on my iPhone to read the Scripture for the day, and then read the devotional. Every single devotional is quality. It’s all very well founded in Scripture, and it gets right to the heart. Plus, the format makes it so completely doable for moms! I love it!!
This e-book is for the woman who doesn’t need another person telling her to simplify, to slow down, to enjoy the season. Your to-do list matters and that’s ok, and so is taking a moment of peacefulness, just for you. These devotions are guilt-free, inspiring, and able to be read in 10 minutes or less. Each day of this devotional includes a short Scripture or quote, a quick devotion for your heart, a brief prayer, a question to ponder, and something for your hands (a timesaving tip, recipe, tradition idea, etc.) Also included are six ‘bonus moments’ – short prayers for different situations & days. – from A Moment of Christmas
What lists and systems and self-help books have failed to do for young moms in the trenches, Jesus can accomplish blindfolded. Yes, moms are busy, they need a break, and they’d just like a shower. But they are also strong and brilliant and have the power to move mountains. Author and speaker Jen Hatmaker takes the words and deeds of Jesus, adds the humor of a young mom’s life, and offers messages of grace and encouragement. She shows overburdened moms forty things Jesus doesn’t expect them to do on their own.
Covering areas such as worry, marriage, priorities, money, and the trap of comparison, this lively Bible teacher brings Jesus’s message alive in a format geared to the short moments moms have that can be allotted to reflection. This is a devotional for the woman inside the mom–the Bible student, the learner, the world-changer. – from Out of the Spin Cycle
4. Breathe: 31 Moments with God {for Moms} – a month-long devotional by my friend Jaimie Bowman that you won’t want to miss! She writes with a heart for moms, as a mom who understands right where you’re coming from!
Breathe: 31 Moments with God {for Moms} provides needed encouragement and spiritual refreshment for busy moms. Author Jaimie Bowman takes weary mothers through a 31 day journey of reconnecting with the Lord and renewing peace and joy in their mothering journeys. – from Breathe.
If you’ve got motherhood all figured out, this book isn’t for you. Carry on.
If you’re one of the rest of us, struggling through the miracle, you’re in the right place, friend.
Undivided Mom is a devotional for moms who feel distracted, pulled in a million different directions, and really just desperately need Jesus to keep them from losing their ever-loving minds. It’s about mothering with a vision, with a purpose, for His glory, and through His strength.
This is a book for anyone who is longing to find a glimpse of Christ in the chaos of everyday motherhood.
It’s for you. For me. For all of us.
Those are my favorite devotionals for this season of life. I’d love to hear yours!

What’s your favorite mommy devotional?
Kayse Pratt serves Christian women as a writer + designer, creating home + life management resources that help those women plan their days around what matters most. She’s created the most unique planner on the market, helped over 400 women create custom home management plans, and works with hundreds of women each month inside her membership, teaching them how to plan their days around what matters most. When she’s not designing printables or writing essays, you’ll find Kayse homeschooling her kids, reading a cheesy novel with a giant cup of tea in hand, or watching an old show from the 90’s with her husband, who is her very best friend.
YOU are a gift, my friend. Thanks for including me on this incredible list!
What a blessing to realize I have 4 of the 5 devos featured on your list. After finishing Anna’s this month, I totally need to dive back into yours.
I’m actually sharing about a beautiful new devotional on my blog today – good timing! 🙂 I have Jen Hatmaker’s on my Kindle – I really should read that soon!
